A private teak deck that steps straight into still water, with a jetty long enough to swim from. Kayaks are racked at the end of it and free for guests all day. At dusk the deck becomes the best seat in Tissamaharama.

Olu Table serves three times a day, all of it facing the water. The bar runs from late morning until the last guest leaves, with arrack cocktails, cold Lion and a short natural-wine list.

A twelve-metre pool set into the lawn between the villas and the water, shaded by frangipani at either end. Towels, loungers and cold water are laid out from seven in the morning.

Two acres of frangipani, mango and old banyan, with a mown trail that follows the shoreline to the bird hide. Over 120 species have been recorded within a kilometre of the jetty.

Fibre throughout the property, strong enough for video calls from your balcony. The library room has a long desk, sockets at every seat and the coolest air in the house.
